    Jared Reams

    PARTNER

Jared Reams is a litigator that is also a leading cannabis law attorney with years of experience advising cannabis businesses in Minnesota and elsewhere in the United States. His practice has involved representing clients from small start-up businesses to large Fortune 500 enterprises.

Practicing cannabis law requires a keen understanding of the highly dynamic and complex legal landscape regulating cannabis products in the United States, as well as every other area of law that businesses selling cannabis products must contend with. In addition to his history advising on cannabis-specific issues, Jared’s compliance and litigation experience serve him well in his practice: he has extensive experience advising on regulatory compliance in a variety of industries, as well as representing clients in disputes involving government contracts, commercial transactions, unfair competition, anticompetitive business practices, and intellectual property rights, as well as before federal and state courts and administrative tribunals.

Jared excels in navigating the intricate nuances of regulations governing the sale and use of cannabis, hemp, and cannabinoid products (such as those containing THC or CBD), as well as related services, even as federal and state laws continue to evolve. His expertise extends to assisting businesses in obtaining necessary licenses, ensuring operational and product-related compliance, and offering legal support in various capacities, from challenging improper law enforcement to providing transactional assistance, including the drafting and revision of contracts to safeguard against unexpected outcomes. As a result of his expertise, Jared regularly trains other lawyers in continuing legal education classes regarding cannabis law topics.

Jared’s accomplishments as a trial lawyer include a landmark jury verdict of $35,740,000 in favor of a client who suffered severe burns due to a hose coupling failure on the job in Harris v. ContiTech North America, Inc. et al.

Jared's academic achievements include graduating magna cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School, where he further contributed as an adjunct professor of mock trial.
